Freestone County Commissioners began preparations for the March 5 political primaries, addressing several issues brought up by Elections Administrator Reneé McBay.
On Wednesday, Jan. 17, FCSO Deputy Leatherman attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in Teague. Instead of pulling over, the male driver of the vehicle decided to flee from the Deputy in his vehicle.
Things got heated at the City of Teague Board of Aldermen meeting on Friday night, Jan. 19, as Mayor David Huffman was asked to resign, but refused to do so. However, the board did set some limitations on Huffman. The board of aldermen also made the City Secretary and City Administrator positions fulltime and set a salary range for both positions. All board members were present except for Alderman Place 1 Garlan Steed.
