At the Teague ISD school board meeting last Tuesday, June 21, the board approved up to a 3% pay raise for all returning employees. Board members Jeff Gonzales, Lovie Whyte, Brian Bowers and Vicki Dimiceli were present for the meeting. Debra Lawrence, Jason Hullum and Justin Lee were not present.
Family and friends are gathering at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 2, to celebrate 60 years of marriage with Mr. and Mrs. Richard G. Sims. Hosting the event are their families, with Debbie leading the festivities. Richard and the former Kay Frances Haroski were married June 29, 1962, at Teague Church of Christ. Richard graduated from Teague High School in 1961 and Kay followed in 1962. They are now retired and live in Pantego, Texas. They have two sons, Theron (Melissa) and Scott; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The gathering to celebrate their union will be held at the old home place on Highway 84, west of Teague. Please bring a chair to stay and visit a while!
Freestone County commissioners agreed during their Wednesday, June 15,regular meeting to leave off a burn ban.
Exactly four weeks after a teenage gunman armed with a semiautomatic rifle massacred 19 elementary schoolers and two teachers in Uvalde, the U.S. Senate voted 64-34 Tuesday night to advance a bipartisan compromise that, if enacted, would become the first major legislation on gun safety since 1994.
