The trust formed by 1957 Teague High School graduate Anthony “Tony” Bobrow continues to follow his instructions to “Make life better in Teague.” Bobrow died in 2018 at 78, leaving his entire estate to the trust.
Freestone County employees who retire may get a significantly higher match from the county if commissioners approve a request from the tax assessor- collector. During the public comments portion of the Aug. 3 meeting, Tax Assessor-Collector Dan Ralstin asked the court to consider returning to a 250 percent match on county employees’ retirement funds. The county previously provided a 150 percent match, he said, then increased the match to 250 percent in 2006. In 2013, however, the court lowered the match to 150 percent, where it has been ever since, he noted. The court took no action at this time.
