Twenty-nine new laws in effect in January
More than 20 new state laws went into effect as Texans rang in the New Year, with another half-dozen to go on the books on Jan. 18, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Those laws include a ban on transgender athletes competing on sports teams that reflect their gender identity, and penalties for illegally restraining dogs.
Making memories into 2022
Katy and I had a wonderful Christmas break. We were able to get away and visit Graceland and Branson. We traveled 1,563.3 miles and visited five states over a 10-day period. It was a trip that we will not forget.
Prayer: Have blessed new year
I pray your year is coming to a good end. This year has been so crazy for many of us; especially with all of the COVID cases and deaths during the first half of the year.
Let’s not destroy the center
What is the difference between problems and situations? Problems can be solved but situations go on and on. Even over time problems that have appeared to be solved move back into the situation category. Take voting rights and the election process that were problems of the 1960s that we thought had been resolved, they are now back as a situation. Part of this dilemma is the constant battle within ourselves between reason and passion with passion and rage winning elections.
