Glance away, half a century gone

Watching Cowboy game on Thanksgiving evening brought back memories of their first Thanksgiving game in 1966. Karen’s grandfather in Donie had one of the first color TVs and our date was to go down and watch the first big game in Cowboy history. They defeated the dominant Cleveland Browns and went on to the NFL Championship game, failing in the last few seconds to force an overtime game against the Green Bay Packers. When you glance away for a few seconds, half a century can slip by.

Extreme weather could still threaten grid

The state’s power grid could still be at risk under extreme winter conditions, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, but should operate fine under normal conditions.The Seasonal Assessment of Resource Adequacy, issued Friday, said the grid can meet normal and even moderately challenging weather conditions but could break down if the state faces winter storms such as occurred last February.
