Teague students just completed their first full week of school, both in-person and remotely, and despite all the changes caused by COVID-19 safety requirements, Superintendent Chris Skinner characterized the return to campus as “quite possibly the most positive start to a school year I have witnessed.”
The county tax rate, budget, and other matters were on the table for Freestone County Commissioner’s Court this past Thursday, holding a Special Meeting that included the Public Hearing for the proposed tax rate of .409 per $100 valuation.
The Teague Farmers Market, located at 406 Main St., will be open later this month for the first time in a while thanks to new owners Steve and Heather Idlett.
Having held several meetings already in the month of August, Freestone County Commissioners will be facing another hectic week coming up.
Celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month, the Teague Thrift Store has expanded in town, opening an annex building at 105 S. 3rd Ave. The store is stocked by donations and run by volunteers. Operating hours are Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
