Senior Center News

Last Monday our usual crowd was down. We had lots of our folks out with doctors appointments and some out of town. We are so blessed to have such considerate and sweet people that provide others with rides to our Center. Whenever they are missing, the others do not get to come as well. Thanks to Leslie Root for the delicious blueberry creme cake slices, and cinnamon turnovers. Wow! What a way to begin Monday! “That will WORK!!!”

A prayer as we enter onto Hwy. 2022

In Luke’s Gospel, the eleventh chapter, the Bible tells us that one day the disciples of Jesus came to Him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Of course, the prayer He taught them, the one we call “The Lord’s Prayer”, is just a model of how we should pray for the Lord’s will to be done in our hearts and lives, and in the hearts and lives of our nation, because it teaches us to be completely dependant upon God above. In the sixth chapter of Matthew’s Gospel, where the other version of the prayer is found, Matthew records two whole chapters, chapters six and seven, where Jesus gives us guidelines for all our prayers. Jesus tells us that when we pray, we are not to do so in a “show and tell” manner like the hypocritical Pharisees used to do, but to go to our rooms where we can pray in secret, and “our Father who sees in secret will reward you”, and oftentimes publically.
