Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) announced on Monday that it would temporarily reopen Fairfield Lake State Park for free day-use-only visitation beginning Tuesday, March 14.
The Navarro College Foundation held its annual singing competition for the Mexia campus – A New Voice – and by the end of the night, the winner of the Golden Mic was determined to be Fairfield’s Mariah Comer, with Mexia’s Linda Fox named as runner-up.
The City of Teague board of aldermen met on Monday evening, March 13, in the their shortest meeting they have had over the past several months. Alderman Place 1 Garlan Steed and Alderman Place 5 Ryan Mathison were not present at the meeting.
The Teague Lion Marching Band will be looking spiffy for the 2023-2024 school year as the TISD school board approved purchasing 100 new band uniforms totaling $47,555 at the Feb. 28 TISD school board meeting. The current band uniforms were purchased in 2016 and are seven years old. All board members were present.
Representatives of a company called Solar Proponent made a presentation about a project called Tehuacana Solar to Freestone County Commissioners at their March 1 meeting.
