Freestone County Precinct 2 Commissioner Craig Oakes died late Tuesday, March 22, in a Dallas rehabilitation center following an injury he recently sustained while working with cattle on his land near Teague.

Powerful thunderstorms rolled through Freestone County on Monday night, and the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for the county until 9:15 p.m. Monday. A tornado watch was in effect until 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Citizens will have the chance to meet and greet the candidates running for city of Teague positions at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at the Teague Hotel. The event is being hosted by the Teague Chamber of Commerce.
