Yellowjackets sting Calvert in final seconds, 34-31

With 12 seconds remaining in their game against Calvert on Friday night, the Coolidge Yellowjackets teetered on the edge of winning or losing.

They had the ball at Calvert’s 4-yard line on a fourth-and-goal play. Coolidge coach Danny Baker called timeout and rallied his entire team and coaching staff on the field as a final play was decided upon.

With the game on the line, T. J. Hoover scrambled, looked to the end zone and passed to Eric Walker for a touchdown with just two ticks left on the clock to give the Jackets a come-from-behind, 34-31 victory over Calvert, which was ranked No. 5 in the state. The victory improved Coolidge’s record to 4-2.
