The Teague Lady Lions defeat Blooming Grove 68-46

Lady Lions capture Bi-District Title

The Teague Lady Lions came into the Bi-District playoff game against the Blooming Grove Lady Lions knowing that this time of year it’s win or go home. With this mindset the Lady Lions let their defense set the stage by forcing several turnovers and scoring nine unanswered points before forcing Blooming Grove’s head coach Justin Baldia to call a time out with 5:02 left in the first quarter. It wasn’t until the 3:23 mark in the first that Blooming Grove got their first points on the board.

“We had to create or own energy tonight. The atmosphere was kind of dry. We know how to create our own energy to play great defense,” said Teague’s head coach Chris Nickleberry. “I put some kids in. They were hungry. They pulled off the traps, they knew what was going on and applied the pressure. Blooming Grove couldn’t handle it. It takes defense to go all the way and we played some great defense tonight. We gave up 46 points which is more than I want to give up, but it is what it is.”
