Rogers ousts Teague from volleyball playoffs
Rogers used a power-hitting game and a strong blocking game to defeat Teague, three games to won, in a Class 3A bi-district volleyball playoff game at Waco High School on Tuesday night.
Rogers won the first game 25-21, but Teague rebounded to win the second set by the game score to tie the match at one set apiece.
Rogers took the third game, again by a 25-21 score, and finished off the match with a 25-16 victory in the fourth set.
The first set went down to the wire as the teams matched point-for-point in the late stages of the contest. Teague inches out to a 21-20 lead. But Rogers scored the final five points of the set to take the advantage in the match.
The second set played out much as the first one did, but it was Teague that made more plays down the stretch.
Rogers blocked a Teague hit to take a 21-20 lead. But this time it was the Lady Lions who recorded the final five points of the set, some on Rogers hitting errors, to tie the match at one set apiece.
