Overton program to show how to reduce winter feeding costs
Mexia native and NFL player Kelvin Beachum Jr. has taken his skills to tackle hunger at a whole new level. Since 2015, when Beachum joined with Central Texas Food Bank located in Austin, he has made a sure impact against hunger.
President and CEO Derrick Chubbs of CTFB said, “Kelvin has produced, on his own, 70,000 meals feeding 7,000 people in the tri-county area.” That area includes Limestone, Freestone and McLennan Counties. “The reason I sow into these counties, when I was in school playing at Mexia, we played in Fairfi eld, Teague, Groesbeck, Waco, and West, and all those cities in those counties,” said Beachum.
