Lions get by Yoemen 40-14

Teague faces East Chambers in area round Friday night

The Teague Lions defeated the Cameron Yoemen 40- 14 to earn the bi-district championship Thursday, Nov. 16, at Robinson’s Rocket Field.

It was a win four years in the making, as the Yoemen knocked the Lions out of the playoffs in the past three years – in the second round, the third round and the fourth round.

Teague advances to the area round to play East Chambers, which defeated Buna on Friday, Nov. 17. The areagame kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at Woodforest Bank Stadium, 19115 David Memorial Drive in Shenandoah -- south on Interstate 45 near The Woodlands. Teague will be the visitors. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

The score in the Yoe game indicates an offensive explosion on the Lions’ part, and there’s some truth in that. However, it was the defense that set the tone for the night. This game wasn’t as close as the previous three, as the Lions accumulated 494 yards of offense and held the Yoemen to just 213.
