Lions finish with 1-2-1 record at Mexia Classic baseball tourney
The Teague baseball team finished with a 1-2-1 record during the three-day Mexia Classic on Thursday through Saturday.
Teague opened the tourney last Thursday with a 3-3 tie against Mabank. The Lions followed that up with a win over Riesel on Thursday. They were edged by the host team Mexia, 5-4, on Friday and finished with a 14-5 loss to Waco LaVega on Saturday.
Despite winning just one game, with a few breaks the Lions could have been 3-1.
Teague allowed all five runs to Mexia in the first inning. The Blackcats did not get a hit. They took advantage of three walks, a hit batter and a key Lions error that allowed three unearned runs to score.
Teague battled back with three runs in the third inning and one in the fourth.
