Lions drop season opener

The Teague Lions boys’ varsity basketball squad took to the hardwood for the first time in the 2019-20 campaign last week, dropping a 54-49 contest to the Franklin Lions on home court.

Attempting to incorporate a mostly new roster, coach Chris Hair’s crew struggled to put points on the board offensively, turning the ball over in abundance.

The offensive kinks will be worked out in time, according to Hair, as his players become more familiar with what the Lions like to run.

“[Varsity games are] faster than what they’ve been accustomed to,” Hair said. “They might not know the play in the moment.”
