Lions come up short against Blackcats

Teague battled down to the wire against Mexia, but the Lions came up a few baskets short in a 66-59 loss to the Blackcats at Mexia on Friday, Dec. 21.

Teague trailed for virtually the entire second half as Mexia erased a four-point halftime deficit with a 13-0 run to begin the third quarter.

The Lions overcame a 14-point deficit after the third quarter to get within three points late in the game.

With Mexia leading 62-56, Teague’s Keshawn Rice muscled in an offensive rebound and was fouled. He made the free throw to get his team within 62-59 with 32 seconds left in the game.

But the Lions were forced to foul in an attempt to get the ball back. Mexia’s Jaden Proctor sank two free throws with 22 seconds left to put the Blackcats up by five.
