Lady Lions fall to Lady Goats 45-53

Teague’s Varsity Lady LIons traveled to Groesbeck to face the Lady Goats in their second district competition where an unproductive offense and an ineffective defense crushed their fight to make a comeback win.

The competition was kicked off by upperclassmen Laura Knight, Reagan Heggins, and Ashlynn Forge, along with underclassmen Jolee Haley and Kori Pillete. Thanks to Heggins, Haley, and sophomore Mollie Sims joining later in the quarter, Teague was able to lock down 11 points, giving them a slight advantage over Groesbeck’s 7. Productivity slowed down for the Lions, but the Groesbeck Lady Goats began to work double-time in the second quarter.

With only 5 points made from the field, and 1 out of 6 attempted free throws, the Lady Lions only added 6 points to the board. Groesbeck remained consistent at the line and in the field, allowing themselves to gain 14 additional points, taking Teague’s advantage and confidence. The Lady Lions returned from half-time in poor shape, 17-21.
