Eagles fall to fourth-place in regular-season finale
Gunning for third-place in the final District 8-4A, Division II standings, the Fairfield Eagles were unable to overcome a tough road contest Friday night, as the Salado Eagles used a 21-0 second half run to win 42-21.
With the loss, the Eagles end the season fourth in district play at 3-3, and will now go on to face Wills Point this Friday in the bi-district round of the Region 2 bracket. Salado, picking up the team’s fourth district victory Friday, moves on to face Rusk.
The two convocations battled it out early, as Fairfield won the coin toss and quickly capitalized with a Jar-Mychael Hudson touchdown. Hudson was the team’s leading rusher Friday, gaining 105 yards on the ground on 12 attempts.
