W.L. (DUB) LINDSEY

Funeral services for W. L. (Dub) Lindsey, 91, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at First Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Scott Matthews officiated. Interment will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held prior to the services, at the church.

Mr. Lindsey passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Ascension Providence Medical Center in Waco.

He was born in Mexia on Dec. 1, 1930, and grew up in Tehuacana, but moved again and attended four different high schools. After graduating from Teague High School with the class of 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. When he returned from his service, Dub went to work for an airline in New York. However, he was soon laid off and returned to Teague where he took a job at the railroad. Mr. Lindsey completed a 27-year career with the railroad and retired in 1994. Dub was well known in Teague for many years between his railroad career and operating Bendy’s with his wife, and especially drinking coffee early in the mornings in numerous establishments over the years and enjoying deep conversations with other area men. Mr. Lindsey was a member of First Baptist Church in Teague.

He is survived by six children, Tim Hedrick and wife Lea, Warren Hedrick and wife April, Libby Goolsby and husband Jamie, Wally Lindsey and wife Angela, Bennie Miller, and Ruth Allison; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, including a special nephew, Bill Allison and wife Sue, other relatives and friends

Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Fulton Lindsey; and four sisters, Mary Russ, La Rue Allison, Bernice Fuller, and Winnie Free.
