William Richard Keaton, 75, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Fairfield. Funeral services took place 10 a.m. Friday, July 6 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Bro. Bubba Rutherford officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Fairfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Harris, Donald Carroll, Stanley Gregory, Ricky Cannon, Bill Rutherford, Jerry Watkins, James Whatley and Fred Whiteside. Richard was born Oct. 24, 1942 in Teague to parents William Lee and Beatrice Dell Sanchez Keaton. He served in the U.S. Army 1960 to 1963. He was a heavy truck driver for many years in the oil field business and accumulated over 3 million miles. As a driver his CB handle was Ragman, a name known by many who knew him. Although, not an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed his memories of coon hunting as a young boy. Richard loved his cows he owned and enjoyed watching them eat and petting them. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Dell Whiteside and a half-sister, Margie Crisp. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kimberly Keaton of Fairfield; Russell Keaton and wife Karla of Fairfield; one sister, Marie Battles and husband Larry of Corsicana; six grandchildren, Justin Jones, Jeffrey Harvick and wife Tessa, Toby Jones, Cooper Cole, Katlin Keaton and Lauren Cole; three great-grandchildren, Bailee Page, Brylan Jones and Ella Rae Harvick; two nieces, Amanda Whiteside Lee and Melissa Battles; two nephews, Wendell Whiteside and Larry Battles, Jr. To view an online obituary, send a personalized sympathy card, or leave the family a personal tribute, visit website at cappschapel.com
