W.E. (Bill) May

Funeral services for W. E. (Bill) May, 93, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Eighth Avenue Bap-tist Church in Teague. Brother Roy Prather officiated. Interment followed the services at Point Enter-prise Cemetery.

Visitation was held prior to the service at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Mr. May passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Legacy at Town Creek in Palestine.

He was born in Santa Anna, Texas, on June 10, 1930, to George and Lois (Sellers) May. Bill moved to Point Enterprise as a child and later to Teague where he attended school. Mr. May went into the elec-tronics business and founded Bill’s Radio & T.V. in Teague in 1947. He installed the Freestone County Sheriff Office’s first radio system and maintained it until he closed his business in 1983. Bill married Louise on May 3, 1965, and shared over 47 years of marriage together before being separated by her death on June 23, 2012. Mr. May worked as a private security guard for several years and for several different companies. He also served as a reserve deputy for Freestone County under Sheriff Sonny Ses-sions and was a member of the Teague Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. Bill loved music his en-tire life and was an accomplished guitar and fiddle player. Mr. May was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague.

He is survived by two daughters, Paula Dunklin and husband Tom of Crosby and Jackie Rasbeary and husband Ron of Teague; five grandchildren, Amy Martinez and husband Abel, Janet Najvar and hus-band Stephen, Paul Wilson and wife Missy, Jared Rasbeary and wife Jessica, and Keith Wilson and wife Courtney; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy McAdams of Teague; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise May; three sisters, Lavada Thompson, Joyce Merz and Nelda Wood; one son, Tommy Wilson; and one grandson, Michael Dunklin.
