Funeral services for Wanda Jean Cooper was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 18 at Sardis Baptist Church near Jewett. Bro. Ken Henbest officiated. Interment followed the service at Sardis Cemetery. Visitation was held on Tuesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Cooper passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at her residence in Buffalo. She was born in Leon County near the Corinth Community on Dec. 21, 1939, to Floyd and Irene (Jones) Williams. Wanda Jean grew up in Jewett and married LRoy Cooper on May 18, 1955. She shared over forty-five years of marriage with LRoy before being separated by his death on May 8, 2001. Cooper was a dedicated homemaker and was always willing to help others in any way she could. She worked as a visitation greeter for several years for Memorial Funeral Home in Buffalo and enjoyed being a comfort to families during their bereavement. Wanda Jean was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years and served as an officer for several years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. She married Dave Cooper on June 5, 2010, and was blessed with almost eight years of marriage together. Cooper was a member of the Freestone Church of Christ for some forty-seven years. She is survived by her husband, Dave Cooper of Buffalo; one son, Jesse Cooper and wife Diane of Cedar Park; one daughter, Rita Joy Cooper of Buffalo; two grandchildren, J. Luke Cooper and wife Pamala, and Kelli Moore and husband Don; five great-grandchildren, Karsyn Moore, Kai Moore, Leilani Moore, Natalie Cooper, and J. William Cooper; three brothers, Harold Williams of Kerrville, Jeryl Williams and wife Elaine of Jewett, and Kenneth Williams and wife Shirley of Lanely; one aunt, Bessie Woodall of Jewett; three sisters- in-law, Bonnie Easterling and husband Curtis, LuNell Zufall and husband Richard, and Patricia Cooper; one brother-in-law, Gary Cooper and Donna. She is also survived by two step-sons, Mark Cooper and wife Annette of LaGrange, and Tim Cooper and wife Deb of Richmond; one step-daughter, Sherri Moore and husband Mark of Buffalo; one daughter-in-law, Diane Cooper of Sugar Land; other relatives and friends. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, LRoy Cooper; one brother-in-law, Buford Cooper; and one stepson, Jim Cooper.
