Virginia Sanders

Virginia Sanders of Waxahachie passed away peacefully of natural causes in her apartment at Brookdale Assisted Living in Waxahachie on Aug. 16, 2019 at the age of 93. She was born on June 19, 1926 in Washburn (20 miles East of Amarillo) to parents Lila Druin Roberson and Ellery Dall Roberson. She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1944. She loved playing the piano and was an accomplished violinist playing in both the Junior and Senior Amarillo Symphony Orchestras. On May 28, 1946, she married Royce Lindsay Sanders after he returned home from serving in World War II. In 1948, Royce surrendered to the ministry and both she and Royce remained in the ministry until the Lord called each of them home.

Virginia’s life could be summed up as a loving pastor’s wife, loving mother, loving grandmother, loving great grandmother, loving great great grandmother, and faithful Christian Servant. Royce and Virginia served in BMA Baptist Churches all over the state of Texas in Whitney, Itasca, Greenville, Harlingen, Amarillo, Snyder, New Sumerfield, Teague and Fairfield. At the time of her passing, Virginia was a member of The Avenue in Waxahachie where she served as a greeter until her health forced her to quit at the age of 92.

Virginia was blessed in life with two daughters and their families. Daughter Brenda Hoeinghaus (married to Ronnie), grandchildren Heather Dineen (married to John Paul III) with great grandchildren Lila, John Paul IV, Amelia, John Paul V and Cody Hoeinghaus (married to Allison Hearne) with great grandson Harrison. Daughter Ginny Evans (married to James) grandchildren Justin with great grandchild Magen with great great grandson Roland, great grandchildren Justin Jr. and Jacey and John Evans (married to Maura Smith) with great grandchildren Levi Nathaniel, Loralee, Annabelle, and Julianne. Virginia was preceded in death by both parents Lila and Ellery Roberson, husband Royce Sanders, and great grandsons Levi Nathaniel Evans and John Paul Dineen IV.

Visitation with family and friends is from 6 to 7 pm in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel followed by a 7 p.m. memorial service on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 20 at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Royce.
