Vera Richardson Burrell, a native of Freestone County, passed away May 23, 2018 in The Medical Center at Inglewood, Calif. among loving family and devoted friends. Viewing and visitation were held Friday, June 8 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Burial was held the same day at 3 p.m. in the Antioch Cemetery, N. 1st Street in Teague directed by Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe Street, Teague. The Memorial services for Mrs. Burrell were held Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. in the Moore’s Angelic Chapel officiated by Brother Chet Foster and Bro. Paul Williams. Burrell was born on Sept. 14, 1925 to Curtis Richardson and Halie Sheffield Richardson in Freestone County. She grew up in Freestone County where she attended the public schools. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in the Class of 1944. She and S.M. Burrell were married for more than 58 years and this marriage ended in his death. Vera’s employment career included the former Teague General Hospital of Teague. Her religious affiliation was that of Jehovah’s Witness. Her love of family was one of her greatest attributes, and her grandchildren were her jewels. Burrell was preceded in death by: her parent, husband, brothers, sister and son, Samuel Burrell. Surviving Mrs. Burrell are: Her sons: Sammie Richardson, Teague; Arnold Burrell and wife, Vera, Teague; and Floyd Burrell, Teague; Her daughters: Ida Gray and husband James, Los Angeles, Calif.; Estella Burrell, Chatsworth, Calif.; Vera Burrell, and Gloria Burrell, both of Inglewood, Calif.; Six grandchildren; Seven great-grandchildren; One great-great-grandchild; five nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
