RUBY BERNICE PINE

Ruby Bernice Pine was born Jan. 12, 1927, and passed away April 20, 2021. She was the 5th of 14 children born to Maggie Bell (Tinsley) Howard and Lee Wilton Howard Sr. in Teague.

Ruby graduated from Furney Richardson High School. Afterward, she completed 40

hours of training as a Geriatric Nurse Aide IV. She also completed 27 hours in Advance Floral Design in 1979. Both of her accomplishments were completed at Tarrant County Junior College.

Ruby also was an accomplished Health-Care provider, where she completed several hours of providing healthcare service for seniors.

Ruby lived in Los Angeles, California for several years before moving back to Texas. to purchase and run her ranch with her husband. She provided healthcare to both her mother and father until they passed away.

After the passing of her mother and father, Ruby moved back to Teague, where she was formally committed to serving in her church, Gipson Chapel. She attended faithfully until she could no longer carry out her duties as a member and Treasurer.

After she was unable to carry out her duties at church, she still faithfully sent in her tithes. Ruby’s personality and

Ruby’s personality and her high piercing voice were infectious. Her generosity was limitless. Her attitude was, if she had it, you got it. She was very family oriented. She believed in Papa’s philosophy, “you need to know your people.” She knew all of her nieces and nephews on a one on one basis.

Preceding Ruby in her death were her husband -Jimmie Pine, her parents, Maggie and Lee Howard Sr., her sisters – Minnie O. Edwards, Edie Farnsworth, her brothers, Henry E. Jackson, Willie A. Howard, Troy L. Howard, Arthur C. Howard and Johnny H. Howard.

Ruby leaves to honor her memories – her sisters; Lavoice Howard Hornbuckle, DeSo-to, TX; Annie R. Adegbite (Michael) Dallas, TX; Elizabeth Howard Taylor, Dallas, TX; her brothers – Alvin Howard (Opal) Aurora, CO; Calvin Howard (Travis) Teague, TX; Lee W. Howard Jr. (Bernice) Teague, TX; her “play daughter,” Patricia Weatherspoon, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, neighbors, friends and strangers from coast-to-coast.

Service and arrangments entrusted to Pearly Gates Funeral Home of Mexia. Service to be held Saturday, May 1 at noon at Teague Church of Christ, 1001 8th Ave.
