Roy Lamar Day passed away Aug. 1, 2018 in Teague at the age of 77. Funeral services took place Saturday, Aug. 4 at Grace Tabernacle Church in Dew. Bro. Jimmy Davis officiated. Interment followed in the Dew Cemetery. Charles Day, Jr., Gary Moran, Clifford Moran, Cecil Moran, Landon Day and Bill Thompson served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Sanders, Ken Young, John Bard, Kim Johnson, Charles Johnson, Kenneth Hullum and Frank Martin. Roy was born Oct. 14, 1940 in Dew to William Roy and Juanita Kilgore Day. He was a resident of the Freestone County area his entire life. Roy was a big fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed playing bingo, dominoes and working puzzles. During his time in the nursing home, he was always thoughtful of his fellow residents and eager to assist them in playing games. Roy was very outgoing. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Joe and William Ray Day; and sister, Naomi Ione Moran. His loving brother, Charles and wife, Catherine of Teague; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends survive Roy. Memorials may be made to Virginia Hospice, 309 Main St., Teague, TX 75860.
