dwards Graveside services for Roland Bailey Edwards were held on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Cotton Gin Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Mr. Edwards passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at his residence in Teague.

Roland Bailey Edwards was born on March 30, 1936, in Austin, to Ola Mae Gooch Edwards and John Samuel Edwards.

Roland was married for 69 years to his wife, Lois Edwards, with whom he enjoyed a full and wonderful life rich in love, family, and many adventures.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Lois Edwards, their three children: Chris Edwards and wife Tammy Edwards of Port Aransas, Georgia Edwards of Beach City, and Lisa Carolyn Wills and husband Ricky Wills of Teague. Grandchildren: Tarl and Andrea Anderson, Talena and Rich Gulash, April Reyna, Amanda and Chris Bundas, Angella McConnell, Christy and George Gibbs, Tamala and Jaime Alejandro, Misty and Adam Smith, Miranda and Douglas Allen, and Wesley and Alysa Sanchez. Great Grandchildren: Alex Hill, Anthony Reyna, Devin Bundas, Colin Bundas, Jordan Edwards, Adanna Collette, Bryce Collette, Natalie Gibbs, Dylan Gibbs, Phoenix Alejandro, Joseph Alejandro, Sebastian Alejandro, Parker Bailey Anderson, Avery Grace Anderson, Talyn Ascher Gulash, Sydney Smith, Piper Smith, Declan Smith, Liliana Collins, Jaxon Collins, Kieriana Allen, Brookelynn Sanchez, and Emillie Sanchez. Great-Great Grandchildren: Huxton Edwards, Myles Raber, and Ronan Raber.

Roland is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ola Mae Gooch Edwards and John Samuel Edwards, and also by his three sisters and two brothers.

Roland was an avid and dedicated NASCAR fan who loved racing and could be found watching the races on television every week. In 1953, he even won the Texas State Class A Drag Races competition. He also spent 8 years as a U.S. Seabee for the U.S. Naval Construction Force.

Roland was a member of the Brick Layers Union, Local #7 and Local #8, as well as being a member of the Teague Lions Club. He was a man of many talents, well known for his wonderful sense of humor, and much loved by a great many people.

He will be mightily missed, but he will also be carried on in the hearts and memories of his loved ones.
