Rodney Barnell Hughes

Rodney Barnell Hughes passed away July 14, 2018. He was born in Centreville, Miss. to Eunice and Barnell Hughes June 12, 1944. Rodney grew up in Teague, where he graduated from high school. He graduated Navarro College with honors. He proudly served in the Army stationed in Germany for three years in the Guided Missile Program. After military service, he studied computer science at Texas A&M. His career in Railway transportation moved him from Teague to Tomball, Galveston and Houston where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as manager of train yard operations. He received the Burlington Railroad Presidential Award. Rodney is survived by wife of 47 years Bonnie Zalesak, brother and wife Randy and Donna Hughes, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
