Mr. Evans passed away on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at Providence Medical Center in Waco.

He was born on July 30, 1938, to Robert Lamar, Sr. and June E. (Simpson) Evans, in Goose Creek, Texas. Mr. Evans lived in numerous locations as a child, moving often with his father’s welding jobs, in Texas and Louisiana, before settling in Redland. He graduated from Redland High School with the class of 1956, and soon after joined his father, working as a welder. His work took him all over the country and while on a job in Ohio, he met the love of his life, Barbara Capp. The couple married on August 31, 1957, and shared more than 62 years of marriage together. Mr. Evans continued to travel with his work until settling in Teague in 1970. He began working off shore in the late 1960s and completed jobs all over the world including the Middle East, Far East, and Australia, for numerous companies. He made quite a name for himself in his field, such that after attempting to retire, he was still getting called by various companies to come back to work. With all his travel and overseas adventures, his favorite place to be was on his porch in Teague. Mr. Evans enjoyed raising cattle and goats, and loved his family very much. He was a good Christian man and enjoyed being able to help others. Mr. Evans was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Teague, where he served as a Deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Evans of Teague; two sons, Joel Evans and wife Olga of Point Enterprise, and Mike Evans and wife Debbie of Groesbeck; one daughter, Liza Hagler and husband Todd of Teague; seven grandchildren, Evan DeVillier, Ethan DeVillier and wife Ashley, Emory DeVillier, Brian Evans and wife Amy, Marissa Evans, John Clifton, and Elizabeth Poehler; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Grayson Evans and wife Pat of Fairhope, Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lamar Sr. and June Evans; one grandson, Elan DeVillier; one brother, Perry Evans; and one sister-in-law, Donna Evans.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 597, Teague, Texas 75860 or to the Pleasant Hills Children’s Home, P. O. Box 1177, Fairfield, Texas 75840.
