Mr. Fulcher passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at his residence near Kirvin.

Robert L. “Bobbie” Fulcher was born on June 7, 1932, in the Teague City Hospital to Robert Armand and Helen Mae “Sissy” Looney Fulcher. He was raised in Teague and was the younger brother to Jimmy Fulcher. Bobbie graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1950, where he was drummer in the band. He went to work for Rock Island Railroad at the age of 14 as a call boy, went on to be a yard clerk, and then an engineer in 1971; retiring in 1999 after 51 years of running the rails going north and south.

He was a third generation railroad man. Bobbie met the love of his life, Miss Bonnie Freeman, while she was working at his grandmother’s café, The Star Cafe, where she made 50 cents an hour.

They married on June 2, 1952, in the Methodist Parsonage by Bro. Williams, after their mothers had traveled to Fairfield to sign the marriage license.

The popular song of the day was “Too Young,” but their marriage lasted more than 70 years.

Bobbie enjoyed bass fishing with his son, Joey, and his two lifelong friends, R.J. Hartless and Billy Gauntt. He was an active member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church and supported his wife, Bonnie, in her teaching Sunday School classes for 65 years.

Bobbie loved family gatherings, birthday parties, fried catfish and shrimp, but what he enjoyed most of all was being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Fulcher; one son, Joey Fulcher and wife Debbie of Streetman; one grandson, Joe Fulcher and wife Rebecca of Conroe; 11 great-grandchildren, Brady Fulcher, Hope Fulcher, Isabella Fulcher, Arianne Fulcher, Jacob Fulcher, Gabriella Fulcher, Josiah Fulcher, Jude Fulcher, Charlotte “Charlie” Fulcher, Tobias Fulcher, and Truett Fulcher; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Fulcher was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert Gordon “Robin” Fulcher.

The family requests that memorials be made to Solaris Hospice, 1521 Loop 256, Palestine, Texas 75801 or to Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, 201 S. 8th Ave., Teague, Texas 75860.
