Robert Harris passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 16 at at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. The Reverend Steve Nance of First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck offi ciated. Interment followed the services at the Harris Family Cemetery in Freestone. Visitation was held on Feb. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Harris was born in Quincy, Calif. on March 4, 1953, and moved to Texas at age two. He grew up in Angleton and moved to Teague in 1968. Robert married Tressa Kindon on March 19, 1971. He worked part time at Leon’s Garage while in high school then worked full time after graduating in May of 1971 from Teague High School. Robert worked off shore for Brown & Root then returned to Leon’s. He worked for the Ford dealership in Teague as service manager. Robert and Tressa established Harris Garage June 1, 1976 and sold the business to their son, Trent on Jan. 1, 2011. Harris returned to work September 2017 as Safety Personnel for his daughter and son-in-law at Sherrod Services. Robert loved his family and was a provider and enjoyed hunting and fi shing. He was a Methodist by faith. He is survived by his wife, Tressa Harris of Freestone; one daughter, Wendy Harris Sherrod and husband Danny of Oletha; one son, Trent Harris and wife Janet of Freestone; one granddaughter, Raely Sherrod and fi ancé Casey Waters of Waco; fi ve grandsons, Robert Henson “Callaghan” Sherrod of Oletha, Gavin Reese “Harris” Sherrod of Oletha, Trace Harris of Freestone, Coalton La- Foy of Freestone and Bradlee LaFoy of Stephenville; one brother, Sterling Harris and wife Laura of Brazoria; three sisters, Sherry Pate of Buffalo, Laura Harris West and husband Joel of Cypress, Karen Harris Pendergrass and husband Steve of Teague; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins; very special friends, Larry Krug and sons Scooter Krug and his son Gavin and Kevin Krug and wife Elissa and their son Kian, and Don Stephenson.
