PATSY MCKINNEY

Patsy McKinney went to join her Lord and Savior March 20, 2020 in New Braunfels, Texas at Eden Hill Communities, her long battle with Alzheimer’s finally over. She was born into a Great Depression and left this world in a world wide pandemic.

She was born November 16, 1933 in Simsboro, Texas, a farming community between Fairfield and Mexia, to parents, James G. Chancellor and Beatrice McGaw. She was the youngest of 10 siblings. She lived there until she married Finis Willard in 1948 and moved to Fairfield. They had 2 children, Linda and Larry Willard. She later married Avery McKinney in 1990. Mrs. McKinney lived the rest of her life in Fairfield until 2010, she moved to Eden Hills Community in New Braunfels, TX to be near her daughter.

Patsy was the first city letter carrier in Fairfield and retired from The U.S. Postal Service in Fairfield. She loved her church, her children, her family and gospel music. She loved to play any games she could find fellow players interested in. She won several 42 tournaments with trophies to remember it.

Patsy was preceded in death by both of her parents, James and Beatrice Chancellor, seven siblings, Finis Willard, her first husband, Avery McKinney her 2nd husband, Larry L. Willard her son and John E. Willard, her grandson.

Patsy is survived by daughter Linda Alexander and husband Tom, Carol Minchew a grand daughter and two great-grandsons, Ethan and Owen Minchew. She is also survived by two sisters, Rita Barger and Billie Vickers and niece Dree Ann Bolten.

Patsy has been laid to rest in Cotton Gin Cemetary between Fairfield and Mexia. There was no service because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas was in a lockdown state at the time. There will be a celebration of her life in New Braunfels through Hope Hospice at Oakwood Baptist Church on Sept. 26.
