Funeral services for Patricia Gaunnt Thompson, 85, will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at 11:00a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Paul Gauntt will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday with the family present from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Ms. Thompson passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017, at the Mexia L.T.C. She was born on July 31, 1932, in Wortham, but moved to Teague with her family at the age of two. She graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1949. Patricia attended Draughn’s Business School in Dallas and worked for Texas Instruments as well as some other businesses in Dallas. Ms. Thompson spent several years in Mexico before returning to Teague in 1975. She worked in the welfare office and later the Limestone Generating Station until her retirement. Patricia later returned to work at the Mexia State School and later Walmart in Mexia. She lived most of her life in Teague and Mexia and spent her last two and a half years as a resident of the Mexia L.T.C. where she enjoyed being with her friends and the staff. Patricia was known for her sarcasm and wit and was very talented. She played piano for numerous singers and ensembles and enjoyed sewing and making things. She spent a lot of time solving crossword puzzles and watching the Home Shopping Network. Ms. Thompson was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. She is survived by one son, Timothy Shannon Thompson & wife Donna of Tyler; five grandchildren, Phoebe Russell McCourt & husband Brian, Chris Kyle Russell & wife Trish, Leah Janelle Henson Johnson & husband Justin, Jessica Henson Risken & husband Hunter, and Drew Henson; eight great-grandchildren, Piper McCourt, Posie McCourt, Marrin Russell, Collin Johnson, Korree Risken, Jayden Yorgensen, Lennox Risken, and Creed Risken; two sisters, Martha Gauntt Hendon & husband George of Dallas, and Dianne Gauntt Rutherford & husband Bill of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, greatnephews, cousins and friends. Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by three daughters, Dana Alyson Thompson Russell, Robin Camille Thompson, and Rebekah Leigh Thompson; her father, Paul Gauntt; her mother, Lillie Bye Kitchens Gauntt; and two brothers, Eugene Wesley Gauntt and William Paul (Billy) Gauntt.
