Patricia Evans was born Oct. 14, 1959 to the parentage of David and Leola Busby in Wortham. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at her residence in Wortham surrounded by loving family and devoted friends. Viewing was held Friday, May 4 at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home in Teague from 1-7 p.m. with the family present from 6-7 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 5 at 1 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church located at 203 N. Canton Street in Mexia. The Reverend W. R. Daniels, Sr., Pastor of Greater Mt. Hope Baptist Church of Mt. Calm officiated. Bishop Jamal Henry, Pastor of Full Faith Primitive Baptist Church of Wortham, will be the Eulogist. Interment will be in the Wortham Cemetery in Wortham. Evans grew up in Wortham, received her Christian education in the Beulah Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L. A. Davis. Her academic education was completed as a graduate of Wortham High School. She was awarded an associate degree from McLennan Community College in Waco. For 30 years Evans was employed at the Mexia State Supported Living Center (Mexia State School) in Mexia. She retired after faithful service. She continued to work after retirement for the Wortham Independent School District in Wortham. Patricia was an active member of the Full Faith Primitive Baptist Church. There, she served as Mother of the Church, Sunday school, and appointed herself the choir director. She loved taking care of her kids and grandkids. Cooking was very special to her. She was best known for her macaroni and cheese dish and her special Oreo cake. Evans loved throwing her annual Christmas party and always enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids open presents and marveled at the excitement in their eyes for the gifts. Evans was preceded in death by her parents: David and Leola Busby, a daughter: Karla Evans. Out of 14 siblings, only a sister, Joyce Watkins and a brother, Rev. Vernon Busby, Sr. have preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Cedric Busby and wife, Emtiesha; Jennifer Evans; Quincy Charles Evans, Jr. and wife, Twamocka; 12 grandchildren: Ty Ramni, JaBryan, Jason, Samaria; Brooklyn, Iyana, Jordin, Kendall, Tieslyn, Karlie, Quincey, III, and Kinley; Brothers: Arthur Busby and wife, Brenda; Kenneth Busby and wife, Ivory and Michael Busby; Sisters: Melinda “Jean” Morgan; Zoleta Kirven and husband, Cliff; Marie Bledsoe and husband, Lynn; Shirley Freeman; JoAnn Young; Mary Nell Piggee and husband, Kenneth; Elaine Rhodes and husband, Gene; and Shandra Carter and husband, Altus, Jr.; Aunts: Ida Mae Eggins; Willie Mae Giddings and Glodene Hunt and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
