Her family worked as sharecroppers in the cotton fields of West Texas and she picked cotton as a young child alongside her family. Her parents’ job required them to move around numerous times as she grew up, but finally settled near Dew.

Ola Mae owned and operated her own beauty shop at her home for several years. She loved to garden and raise cattle and enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s ball games and rodeos.

Oftentimes, she would sit in the hay field with all the grandchildren while they cut hay. Ola Mae also enjoyed taking trips with her best friends, Ruth and D. H. Pickens.

Mrs. Massey was a member of the Cowboy Heritage Church. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Massey and wife Helen; one daughter-inlaw, assey

Kim Massey all of Dew; four grandchildren, Jeffrey “Scooter” Massey and wife Katrina, Amanda Lowey and husband Keagan, John Wayne Massey, and Lori Massey; one great-grandson, Levi Landry; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne L. Massey; one son, David Massey; her parents, Leonard and Letha Mae Armstrong; four brothers, Henry Armstrong, James Armstrong, Delbert Armstrong, and Jack Armstrong; and one sister, Maxine Dommert.
