NOLA SUE “SUZIE” DOBBS MASSEY

Nola Sue (Suzie) Dobbs Massey, 74, passed away Jan. 8, 2021, in Plano, Texas. She was born to Nola Ray and J.R. Dobbs, Jr., Sept. 3, 1946, in Memphis, TN. Suzie grew up in Teague, Texas, graduating with the Teague High School class of 1965. She attended The University of Texas, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Baylor University as well as a Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin University. She was employed by the Teague Independent School District for over twenty years and was loved by her students at Sallie Mounger Elmementary. She also taught school in Portugal and Italy. Suzie was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Teague.

The mother of two sons, Trey Stringer and Michael Massey, she was a committed and loving mother. She was also a devoted daughter to Nola and J.R. Dobbs. Her bright smile, friendly demeanor, and generous spirit were always given to others she met in the community. She will be missed.

Ms. Massey is survived by her son, Trey Stringer of Plano; grandson, Christian Stringer of Salt Lake City, UT; maternal uncle, Bud Coats and wife Billie Jean of Peoria, Arizona; cousins, Sherry and George Davis of Fairfield and Val Fulcher of Teague.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nola and J.R. Dobbs, and a son, Michael Massey.

A graveside service took place Saturday, Jan. 16 at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Please wear a mask and socially distance in accordance with COVID policy.
