Mary Vaughn

Memorial services for Mary Vaughn, 71, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Pleasant Hills Children’s Home Chapel, 170 PR 292, Oakwood, at 2 p.m. The Reverend and Mrs. David Bolden will officiate.

Ms. Vaughn passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at Quality Care Nursing Home in Waco.  

She was born in Corsicana on Sept. 27, 1947, to Henry Boyte and Ann Rohloff. Mary was raised at the Pleasant Hills Children’s Home in Fairfield, and graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1965. She was a devoted mother to her family whom she loved. Mary was a talented singer and seamstress, and was very active in her church. Ms. Vaughn was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Mexia. Mary will be remembered for having a beautiful voice, her strong faith, being great at April Fools’ pranks and her amazing cooking. She will never be forgotten.

She is survived by two sons, Tom and wife Minerva Shirley of Livermore, Colo., Chad and wife Rachel Vaughn of Waco; and one daughter, Niki Di Rocco and husband Jason of El Paso; five grandchildren, Mark Shirley, Jonwww.teaguechronicle.com Jonathan Shirley, Joshua Shirley, Angelique Di Rocco and Hayden Wilfong; brother, Tommy Boyte of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters, Cleta Haynes and husband Ken of Mineral Wells, and Jean Herring of Irving; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Ms. Vaughn was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Boyte and Ann Rohloff; husband, Tommy Shirley; brothers, Michael, Bobby, Jackie, Gerald, Ronny and Donny; and sisters Lynn and Ginger.
