Mary Nichols Clark, 83, of Dallas passed away Feb. 15, 2018 in Waco. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with the Reverend Marcus Sheffi eld officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery. John Taylor Nichols, Lance Nichols, Mike Montgomery, Hunter Montgomery, Chance Cheeney and Rich Vincent served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were John Nichols, Warren Cheeney and Bobby Parson. Mary was born Sept. 20, 1934 in Teague to John Fred and Mary Ellen Bass Nichols. On March 14, 1953, she married her loving husband, Alton I. Clark, at the First Baptist Church in Teague and they were blessed with one son, Alton, Jr. They made their home in Dallas, where she lived for 65 years and, for many of those years, worked for an insurance company. Mary was a faithful member of Park City Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving lunch at church and participating in a Bible study group. She was a member of a Book Club, a 42 Club and a volunteer for meals on wheels. Mary was truly a wonderful Christian who loved her family, friends, church family and enjoyed helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Alton Clark, Sr.; and sisters, Shirley Ruth Nichols, Linda Huffman and Jean Tisdale and husband, Al. Mary is survived by her loving son, Alton I. Clark, Jr. of Dallas; brother, John S. Nichols of Teague; sisters, Sue Nichols and Jennifer Parson and husband, Bobby all of Teague; brother-in-law, James Huffman of Teague; sister-in-law, Shirley Clark of Florida; nieces and nephews, Kathy Fryar and husband, Leslie, Debbie Kilgore, Sonia Evans and husband, Dennis, Susie Nichols, John Nichols, Jr., Terry Nichols and wife, Brandy, Gary Nichols, Lance Nichols and wife, Jackie, Tammy Montgomery and husband, Mike, Linda Cheeney and husband, Warren, Jenny Vincent and husband, Rich, Jennifer Clark, Debbie Ostrander, Pam Gilbert, Phil Clark, Brenda Horn and Sharron Cain; numerous great nieces and nephews.
