Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague, before leaving in procession to the cemetery.

Mary Frances (Billie) Vickers, 91, passed away on Sept. 15, 2021, in Alamogordo, N.M.

She was born Nov. 23, 1929, in Ennis to James and Beatrice Chancellor.

One of 10 siblings, Billie grew up in Teague. She was given the nickname Bill as an infant; most called her Billie later on. She met her husband Norris when she went down the old country road to borrow a cup of sugar from his aunt who Norris just happened to be visiting at the time (wink, wink). Norris became a Southern Baptist pastor and during his pastorate Billie enjoyed teaching Sunday school for third and fourth graders. She loved to play cards especially Mania and the game Oh Hell! She loved jigsaw puzzles as well as collecting John Wayne memorabilia.

Looking forward to meeting with you and Daddy enjoying the extreme joy, peace and beauty that heaven has. I also intend to sit around the table of my adopted Christian brothers and sisters in a game of cards and refreshments. Who knows, maybe I will join in on a domino game of 42 or 84. See you soon! Just me, Dree Dree.

Survivors include her daughter, Dree Ann Boulton of Alamogordo, N.M.

She was preceded in death by father, James G. Chancellor, mother, Beatrice McGaw Chancellor, husband, David Norris Vickers, brothers James and Skeeter, sisters Nita, Rita and Pat and four heavenly children.
