Mary Lou Roberts Barnett was called home on Dec. 26, 2022, at 77 years of age. She was born to Emma and Richard Roberts in Corpus Christi on April 22, 1945.

Mary Lou and Wayne Etzel married in Houston and went on to have and raise three children, Richard Raymond Etzel, Deborah Denise Etzel, and Pamela Lynn Etzel.

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Roberts, her mother Emma Paige, her one and only son Richard R Etzel and her husband Duane Barnett. She is survived by her sister Sue Muchow, her daughters Deborah Chambers and Pamela Etzel “Snoopy” and son-in-law Scott Wallace, her grandchildren Richard Ryan Etzel, Valerie Lynn Cassity and husband Joey Cassity, Shelby Wayne Chambers and wife Shelly Chambers, Caleb Trent Chambers and Emerson McCray Etzel Wallace. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and nephews.

She was a beautiful woman of strength, loyalty and courage who was known as mom, momma, baby, Mi-Mi and grandma. She was so many things to so many people.

She provided comfort and solace to all while never asking for anything in return. She was adored by her grandchildren and B arnett great-grandchildren who loved her joking ways, crazy nicknames and unmatched wit.

She was her son’s hero, Richard loved and admired her for imbuing him with passion to pursue his best life. He has been waiting with open arms for her to come home.

To her daughters and son-in-law, she leaves her undying love and unfathomable gratitude. She has left a footprint that will forever be treasured, loved and missed more than words can ever describe.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” Proverbs 31:25 A celebration of life will be held at 11812 County Road 1104, Celina, Texas 75009 on Jan. 28, 2023, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, our family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society or St Jude.
