MARIE MATTHEWS COLLIE

Marie Matthews Collie, 83, of Fairfield, went to be with her heavenly father on Jan. 21, 2020. Born July 19, 1936 in Cameron, she is predeceased in life by husband and father of her children, Robert L. Matthews Jr., husband Lee Wayne Collie and son H.B. “Bart” Matthews.

Marie was a retired officer of First National Bank in Fairfield and former volunteer worker of First Baptist Church Fairfield. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, traveling, gardening, reading, crocheting, sewing and spending time with family.

Survivors include two of her three children, Darla Matthews and Lisa Dotson, both of Fairfield; stepdaughters, Aleatris Stanley of Double Oak; Jennifer Capers of Wortham; grandchildren Kendall Walker of Bryan and Chase Siner of Fayetteville, Arkansas; honorary grandchildren Michael and Justin Hayes of Woodward, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren Chase Pritchard of Roanoke; Tyler Pritchard of Fort Worth; Manton Capers of Austin; Logan Capers of Tyler and Jack Tanner Stanley of Double Oak.

Marie will be remembered for her beautiful singing and her sweet, loving spirit. A funeral service celebrating her life was held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Fairfield with Pastor Leon Thomas and Mr. Bill Capers officiating. Interment followed at Fairfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chase Siner, Manton Capers, Logan Capers, Jack Tanner Stanley, Chase Pritchard and Tyler Pritchard.
