MARIE BARGER

Funeral services for Marie Barger, 96, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Teague Church of Christ in Teague. Brother Don Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Freestone.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 15, with the family present, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.

Mrs. Barger passed away on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, in Waco.

Lora Marie Lamberth Barger was born on July 3, 1925, in Teague to parents, John Monroe and Avy Barnard Lamberth. She grew up in Donie and graduated from Donie High School with the Class of 1942. After high school she worked for her father at the Donie Chair Factory. She married her husband, Rayford Barger, on Dec. 23, 1944, and they shared 75 years together until his passing in January 2020. Mrs. Barger was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family very much. She enjoyed many good times with Rayford’s seven brothers and sisters and their families. Mrs. Barger loved to cook and host people in her home. She would take food to people on numerous occasions. Marie also volunteered with the Teague Hospital as a Pink Lady. She and Rayford enjoyed camping with a group of friends. Mrs. Barger was a longtime faithful member of the Teague Church of Christ for more than 50 years and was involved in numerous ministries, visiting the sick, and caring for the bereaved.

She is survived by her three children, Karen Steele and husband Frank, Randy Barger and wife Gloria, and Annette Irvin and husband Neal, all of Teague; nine grandchildren, Audry Steele and Charles di Piazza, Emily Steele, Wyatt Steele and wife Emily, Carla Gallegos and husband Da vid, David Soehnge and wife Misty, Adam Soehnge, Katie Walker and husband Cole, Philip Irvin and wife Megan, Andrew Irvin and wife Brittany; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and five great-great-grandchildren; and one niece, Sue Kasner of Boise, Idaho.

Mrs. Barger was preceded in death by her husband, Rayford Barger; her infant daughter, Sandra Lynn Barger; and her brother and sister-in-law, Marshall and Gladys Lamberth.

The family wishes to express thanks to the team of home caregivers; Judy Angel, Pam McCann, Dottie Martin and all of Reliant at Home Hospice; Sodalis Waco Memory Care; and their Teague Church of Christ family.
