Margaret A. Drinkard

Margaret A. Drinkard, 96, of Fairfield, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, Jan. 16. at the home of her daughter in Waxahachie. Friends and family may visit with the family and celebrate the life of Margaret on Friday Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon and attend the memorial service at 2 p.m. at Capps Memorial Chapel with Bro. Brandon Navarre officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Chapel Cemetery.

Margaret Annabelle Drinkard was born on July 27, 1925, in Eden. She met her future husband and love of her life, Waverly Drinkard, as a child as they were neighbor playmates and grew up together. In 1945 they were married and soon moved to the Houston area for work and to raise their two children, Mark and Susan, and as time allowed, they enjoyed shrimping. In 1980, Margaret and Waverly moved to Fairfield, where they were active in their church, helped raise grandchildren, grew a beautiful garden and raised cattle. Margaret was always strong and independent and continued to live in Fairfield until 2019 when she moved in with her daughter, Susan.

Margaret lived a full life and touched the lives of many with her strong spirit, sparkling blue eyes, and warm heart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Waverly; parents, Emmitt and Nora; brothers, James and Mackey; sisters, Faye and Floriene; and son, Mark.

Margaret leaves to cherish beautiful memories, her daughter, Susan (Scott) Diermann; daughter-in-law ,Gwen Drinkard; grandchildren, Shane Drinkard, Jeffrey Drinkard, Lisa (Brandon) Navarre, Amy (Roger) Bakos, Jana (Adam) Mikusch; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
