On Sunday, July 25, 2021, Kevin Gauntt, beloved husband, father, son and friend passed away at the age of 44.

Kevin was born June 10, 1977, in Corsicana to his loving mother and father, Bill and Patti Gauntt of Teague. Kevin lived most of his life in his hometown that was so special to him. He graduated with the Teague High School Class of 1995 — or “The Best Class Ever,” as he always called it.

He began working in the oil and gas industry at the age of 21. One of his very first jobs in this industry was at Bosque Power Plant where he worked with many, still to this day, special men. He was currently employed by Energy Transfer in Crockett and had a very special work family there.

Kevin married Sabrina Spurgeon Gauntt on June 23, 2001, and just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with three beautiful boys, Caleb, Braden and Dylan, who he loved with his whole heart.

Kevin enjoyed cooking — most recently small-town famous for his “Twist Off Salsa,” and always was up to smoke anything on the pit (including a pig head) with his best buds. He was an avid Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys fan and got the joy of taking his family to their first Cowboys game in 2019. Kevin used every opportunity to taunt his Aggie friends and family. He always loved supporting his Teague Lions, especially watching his kiddos in everything they did. He loved music and had a very “eclectic” taste, as he would say. His greatest accomplishment in life he would always say, were his three amazing boys and his best time spent was on the water with family and friends. He was a friend to so very many and wanted nothing more than to be the very best friend to them all. When he had any extra time between kids’ activities he loved to hunt, fish, find a good friend and light a burn pile or just chill at the house with his family at Gee and Pops’ pool.

Kevin’s contagious smile, sense of humor and beautiful blue eyes will be greatly missed by any and all who loved him. To know him was to love him.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sabrina Gauntt; his children, Caleb (17), Braden (13), and Dylan (11) Gauntt; his parents, Bill and Patti Gauntt; sister-in-law, Laine Kormos and husband Scott; brother-in-law, Brett Spurgeon; nephews, Kade and Lawson Kormos; special niece, Letty Grace Kormos; his father-in-law, Joe Spurgeon and wife Jan; his mother-in-law, Ann Spurgeon; very special aunt, Trudy Savage and husband Joe; cousins, Shelly Hyden, Taylor Savage and wife Rachel, Sydney Ladinos and husband Pancho, Austyn Yun and husband Seong, and many other cousins, aunts, uncles, and even more friends than his family combined.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Billie Gauntt and Lois Gauntt, maternal grandparents, Sid and Pat Posey; aunt Paula Hyden; and cousin, Scottie Hyden.
