Juanita Suits
Juanita Suits, 90, of Teague passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 in Groesbeck. Funeral services took place 11a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Capps Memorial Chapel with her son, Bro. Don Suits, II officiating.
Interment followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Micheal Clark, Terry McDonald, Philip Miller, Hunter Ross, Charles Ross and Carter Little.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Suits, Charles Bradley, Trippy Dymke.
Juanita Suits (Wilma Juanita Suits) was born Oct. 31, 1930 in Caddo, OK.
Juanita was one of five children born to Shelby and Gladys Vest.
The family moved to north Texas while Juanita was a young child and she attended school in Prosper and graduated from Alla High School in 1950.
From there Juanita moved to Dallas where she worked in a bank and at the Republic National Life Insurance Company.
She was also very active in the young people’s group at Junius Heights Baptist Church. It was at the church that Juanita met her future husband, Don Suits.
The group of young people literally became their family of friends and much time was spent visiting and worshipping together both in and out of church.
Don and Juanita were married April 18, 1953.
A public announcement of the wedding was made, by some witty writer, that Juanita was celebrating that spring season in the right way and had traded her Vest for a Suits.
Don and Juanita had four children: Don (aka, Donnie), Philip, Anita (aka, the Redheaded One), and Joy. One of the greatest trials of their life was losing Philip suddenly on one Sunday afternoon before Thanksgiving in 1968 when he was twelve years old.
Their Christian faith, family, and church family were instrumental in helping them cope with the loss.
Juanita had been born into a family of devote Christian faith and had committed herself to following that same path. Moreover, she taught her children the importance of following that same path.
She taught Sunday School, Training Union (who remembers that?), and sang in the choir and was involved in other ways in the several churches wherever she lived.
Her life was grounded and centered upon her faith, in prayer, and attending church services (all of them).
Those who knew her witnessed her living her faith, not just talking about it.
Juanita loved talking almost daily to her sisters and brother.
Her joy was knowing that her children and their spouses were committed to the faith in Christ.
Her prayers and hope were that all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would inherit the same faith, as many already have.
She was not shy about wishing all of her family could know the forgiveness and life that Jesus gives to those who believe in Him.
She expressed a sincere love for her grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren, some of whom she has never met, but they were special nevertheless.
Some at the Groesbeck Long Term Care facility, where Juanita spent the last two months of her earthly life, told of her sharing her faith with the people there.
Because of her humble faith, love, and seeing the importance of others Juanita was loved by just about everyone who met her.
She was very important to her family and to the members at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The smile on her face and joy in her heart have already been greatly missed, but we have the confidence that we shall see her again in the presence of our Lord.
Juanita (mom) was truly a living, powerful presence of faith in God.
Those who have gone to be with the Lord before her were her parents, Shelby and Gladys Vest, husband, Don Suits, Sr., a son, Philip and two sisters, Mildred and Christine
Left to cherish her memory are children: Don Suits, II and his wife Tami; Anita Ross and husband Charles; Joy Miller and husband Travis.
Sister and brother: Wanda Moore and Jimmy Dale Vest
She had many grandchildren which she loved dearly: Jason, Nancy, Kelli, Terry, Micheal, Racheal, Philip, Victoria, Olivia, and Hunter. Step-grandchildren: Victoria, Christina, Sterling, and Clayton.
And many great-grandchildren.
