Juanita Sue Roberts Sanders
Juanita Sue Roberts Sanders, 73, of the Lanely Community passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at her residence. Sue was born to Lessie Juanita Clark Roberts and Wilbur Elbert Roberts on June 23, 1948. Having been called by The Father, given to The Son, and sealed by The Spirit, she has finished her work on earth. Being surrounded by the family in her last days, that she so dearly loved and who dearly loved her, she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ hearing Him say “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. April 8, at Capps Memorial Chapel with Jodie Lee Sanders, Sr. and Pastor Joe Bill Reid officiating. Interment followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery.
Known to her friends and family as Sue, she has ministered the word of God to many children through Bible classes in two churches: Heights Baptist Church of Alvin, Texas and First Baptist Church of Fairfield. She enjoyed ministering the word of God to a women’s Bible class at First Baptist Church Fairfield. She also spent more than 25 years every Sunday evening ministering the word of God in the Freestone County Jail to women in desperate need of, as she would put it, “a God-centered life.”
Sue is an excellent seamstress, making all her dresses along with clothes for her children and others over the years. She is the best friend of her husband, Jodie Sanders, of 55 years along with being his soul mate, working mate, fishing mate, and navigation mate; she is anything but a helpless mate. Sue worked hard as a homemaker all those 55 years taking care of many responsibilities and duties around the home. She loved to can and store vegetables for the year. Cutting grass in the yard was her best down time, while she sang gospel songs to herself. He will sorely miss her until they meet again on that beautiful shore of paradise.
Preceded in death by parents W.E. & Lessie Roberts. She is survived by husband of 55 years Jodie Sanders Sr of Lanely; son Jodie Lee Sanders Jr. of Ft Myers, FL; daughter Jill Mills and husband Ronnie of Hallsville, TX; son Jeremy Sanders and wife Krista of Fairfield. She was Granny to five grandchildren of whom she loved and treasured: Taylor Mills, Ashlyn Mills, Seth Sanders, Jack Sanders and Ian Sanders. She is also survived by her two siblings Johnny Roberts and wife Jo of Groveton, TX and Mary Thorn and husband Bob of Nolensville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Jodie Lee Sanders Jr, Jeremy Sanders, Taylor Mills, Seth Sanders, Bob Thorn, Robert Thorn, Nathan Roberts and Gordy Beran. Honorary Pallbearers: Jack Sanders and Ian Sanders.
