Juanita Cannon Chavers, 91, of Fairfield, began rejoicing in the presence of her Lord on Monday, March 26, 2018. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Capps Memorial Chapel. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Terry Skinner and Rev. Chris George officiating. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bryan Chavers, Adam Chavers, Eric Chavers, Justin Cross, Corey Cross and Tommy Neyland. Chavers was born Sept. 15, 1926 in Freestone County to parents Hilmon Thomas (H.T.) and Era Lee York Cannon. Juanita attended Fairfield schools graduating in 1944. Edwin Chavers became her beloved husband on Sept. 14, 1946. He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1984. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church where she worked for years in the nursery and served many tasty meals at church functions. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her delicious chicken pie and butter roll, and macaroni and cheese. Attending the sports events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a very important part of her life. She loved to lavish them with hugs, kisses and love. She was a faithful servant of God, always showing her love for Him and for people. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Millard Cannon and Thomas Doyle Cannon and one sister, Zuma Lee Henry. Left to cherish her memory are three children, Mark Chavers and wife Carey of Fairfield; Thressa Ivy and husband Philip of Fairfield; Gene Chavers and wife Pam of Fairfield; one sister, Marie Richardson of Fairfield; one brother, H.J. Cannon, Jr. and wife Berta R. of Fairfield; three sisters-in-law, Genelle Cannon of Fairfield; Jimmie Hughes of Center; Lurline Tisdale of Fairfield; ten grandchildren, Bryan Chavers and wife Christy; Adam Chavers and wife Pam; Wendy Neyland and husband Tommy; Eric Chavers and wife Jennifer; Julie George and husband Chris; Justin Cross; Corey Cross; Kim Szymanski; Blake Ivy and wife April; Felicia Ivy; sixteen great-grandchildren To view an online obituary, send a personalized sympathy card, or leave the family a personal tribute, visit website at cappschapel.com
