Jordan Looney

Jordan Thomas Looney, formerly of Teague, passed away May 27, 2023, in Stephenville, at the age of 33. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Teague Church of Christ with Doug Young officiating.

Jordan Thomas Looney was born under a wandering star on Nov. 25, 1989. He moved with his family from Wortham to Mexia to Corsicana and then Malakoff.

In October 1998, he moved with his family to Rangely, Colorado. Jordan and family settled in Teague in December 2000, and he graduated from Teague High School with the awesome class of 2008.

Jordan enjoyed golf on the high school golf team and happily put in extra hours of practice with his best friend. He was a member of the Teague Lion Band where he played the French Horn and later the Alto Saxophone.

Jordan loved to come home to Teague and reminisce about his earlier years here. He had a deep appreciation for small town living.

Jordan attended Tarleton State University and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

He worked in Gas and Oil wellhead manufacturing; later as an Insurance claims adjuster; following that he explored the purchase of a body shop, as his desire at the time was to be a business owner.

He eventually decided against it. Recently, he found he enjoyed distribution and supply chain work with the Schreiber Company in Stephenville.

Jordan was a Christian being baptized early in life. He enjoyed Bible camp and Leadership Training in Christ (LTC) activities with his youth group.

When called upon to provide a devotional, he would step up to the plate.

His prayers were always uplifting and always left a greatly positive impact.

Jordan was surrounded by many Christian people, by God’s design, to protect, inspire, teach, and guide him along the way. His path was a good one when he left us and entered Paradise.

Family was of the utmost importance to Jordan. Jordan said he would never deny being a “mama’s boy” as he communicated with his “mama” almost daily.

He had plans with his dad to restore a car and continue to hunt beyond the 17 years they had already enjoyed.

With all the sibling rivalry and such, he loved his sister and was very proud of her.

They had many conversations dealing with real life issues and have a bond only siblings can share.

Being an avid hunter, he very much enjoyed dove hunting with his fraternity brothers and deer hunting with his dad in the San Angelo area. He loved sports and the Texas A&M Aggies!

Lots of family laughs enjoying the barbs back and forth between the Baylor Bear in the house and the Aggie lover.

Jordan savored earthly life and relished the thought of heavenly life. He will be deeply missed.

We have a plan to join him one day when our time comes to walk the pastures of Paradise.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Jim and Marsha Looney of Wortham; maternal grandparents John and Merrylee Petryszyn of Bismarck, North Dakota; his aunts and uncles, Leonard Jones of Houston; Les and Karen Petryszyn of Brush Lake North Dakota; and Ron and Heidi Petryszyn of Bismarck, North Dakota.

He is survived by his parents Jeff and Kathleen Looney of Teague; his sister Renee Looney of Austin; and a multitude of dear family and friends.

Jordan had a connection to the Backpack for Buddies Program of Stephenville.

We feel that Jordan would appreciate, in lieu of flowers, donations to that program to feed children.
