Johnny McAdams

Funeral services for Johnny McAdams, 60, took place Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Jason Schick officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation took place Tuesday with the family present at the funeral home.

Mr. McAdams passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019 at his residence in Teague.  

Johnny was born in Jacksboro May 20, 1958 to his parents, E. J. and Ruth Ann McAdams. He married Lisa Brown Feb. 2, 1979, and spent 40 years together.

Johnny moved around a lot as a child but most of his life he lived in Teague.

He graduated with the class of 1977 from Teague High School. He started operating a bulldozer at the age of 15 and ran heavy equipment all of his life. His career began working for Richard Owens, Bobby Rutherford and others. He currently was working for Headwaters, now Boral. Mr. McAdams had a strong work ethic and took great pride in all of his jobs. Johnny loved to fish and had a great love for Teague City Lake.

He also loved working on model trains and worked on numerous displays at the BRI Railroad Museum where he volunteered for over 20 years. Johnny took his son, Dillon, to numerous model train shows all over the state of Texas.  

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Brown McAdams of Teague; one daughter, Amanda McAdams Hurst of Teague; one son, Dillon McAdams of Teague; five grandchildren, Hunter Hurst, Brindin Hurst, Nate Hurst, Emily Hurst, Maddy Hurst all of Teague; his father, E. J. McAdams of Teague; father-in-law and mother-inlaw whom he loved dearly, Marvin and Ruth Brown; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Griffin and husband David; one brother-in-law, Bobby Brown and wife Kelli; numerous nieces and nephews and their families, whom he loved greatly including, Michael Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Justin Griffin, Macy Merenda, and Jenna Norvell.  

Mr. McAdams was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Ann McAdams; one sister, Cathy Hartless; and his aunt, Jo Downey.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the BRI Railroad Museum, P.O. Box 604, Teague, Texas 75860.
